When being in lockdown is not actually safer!
Intimate Partner Violence and COVID-19
Self-isolating, staying home, practicing social distancing, while needed and helpful with combatting the covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, can be extremely unsafe and isolating to victims of violence and abuse, especially in the case of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). Adding to the stress of being isolated, many are facing lay-offs and job/business closures - further exacerbating otherwise dangerous and unsafe relationships! Nearly 1 in 3 women experience IPV. Times of crisis further increase these numbers.
